Sights to see while on Oahu:
There are many great places to see on the Hawaiian Island of Oahu. It helps to know what to look for if you are searching for sights to see on Oahu. So, I have listed below some of the many sights to see on Oahu that should be a part of your Hawaiian experience.
The first place I suggest you visit is Pearl Harbor. This is not only something visually interesting, but it also plays a big part in the history of our country. You are still able to see the oil that is floating to the top of the water from the U.S.S. Arizona that has been leaking for approximately 60 years. The Arizona has been sunken since Sunday, December 7th, 1941. Although the Arizona has been under water far such a long time, there are still parts of the Arizona that are sticking out of the water. It really is something to see when you are visiting the beautiful Hawaiian Island of Oahu.
Second, I think that snorkeling in Hanauma Bay is a great way to spend one of your days on Oahu. I have to say that Hanauma Bay is the most breathtaking place I have ever had the opportunity to experience. There is a lookout above the actual bay that is so picturesque that it almost doesn't seem real. Also, you definitely want to snorkel in the bay. There are so many colorful fish to see, but, feeding them is prohibited. You first will watch a short film about the marine life in Hanauma Bay when you arrive. Then you will snorkel. Make sure that you make enough time at some point during your day at Hanauma Bay to take pictures and to take in the beautiful views. Oahu is filled with so many great places to see, and Hanauma Bay is one of my favorite parts of the island.
The next place I would suggest going to see is China Town on Oahu. China Town on Oahu is very much like other China Towns in other places that I have seen. Most of the people in China Town on Oahu are of Asian decent. There are several shops to go into while in China Town on Oahu. Some of the prices of the merchandise in the stores in China Town are very inexpensive compared to the prices of products in the stores in downtown Waikiki. In Waikiki there are so many shops to buy souvenirs in that it will make your head spin. So, if you get the chance to visit China Town on Oahu, keep in mind that the shops there are a great place to load up on your souvenirs in order to save some money. China Town on Oahu is definitely a cultural change than what you are normally used to. It is a great place to experience something new and different, especially if you haven’t ever been to China Town anywhere. Take a walk through China Town on Oahu, you won’t be disappointed.
The fourth place I suggest visiting on Oahu is The International Market Place. Located in downtown Waikiki, The International Market Place is also a great place to buy souvenirs and other products that can otherwise be bought in any of the shops spread out throughout Oahu. The thing that draws people to The International Market Place, however, is the prices. Many of the business owners in The International Market Place have a lot of the same or similar products. This makes it easy for the vendors in The International Market Place to offer lower prices for their products, even when the person who owns the cart next to them just quoted a higher price. Once the shop owners see that you are interested in something, every one of them will assertively compete with the other business owners to get you to buy from them. This certainly makes the cost of the item you are interested in go down by quite a bit. Well, I think The International Market Place is a unique place to stop by while on your vacation on Oahu.
Place number five I suggest stopping by on your trip to Oahu, Hawaii is Diamond Head Crater. This attraction on Oahu is open from 6:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M., which makes going to Diamond Head Crater a vacation event, so to speak. You see, almost everybody who goes to Diamond Head Crater decides to go on the very long journey to the top on foot. You end up climbing something like 10,000 stairs, and then at the end you get a certificate saying that you completed the walk up to the top of Diamond Head Crater. Well, a lot of people like to do this, but remember, you can just go to Diamond Head Crater to look at it. Besides, it is one of the most popular things to see on Oahu. Try it out!!!
The sixth place I recommend seeing before you leave Oahu is The Byodo-In Temple. The Byodo-In Temple is situated at Valley of the Temples Memorial Park which was established on June 7, 1968 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the first Japanese immigrants to Hawaii. The Byodo-In Temple is a replica of the 950 year old Buddhist temple in Japan, which was converted from a villa in the year 1053. It is a beautiful and awesome sight on Oahu all in one. There are few other places besides Japan that you can see some architecture like this. So, while visiting Oahu, I believe that The Byodo-In Temple, although quite far away, is a great place to go on one of the days you are in Oahu.
The seventh place I want to steer you towards while on the island of Oahu is The Bishop Museum. This museum is incredible, and it is well worth the time you will spend there. The Bishop Museum’s planetarium shows showcase Polynesian skies and how voyagers navigated the Pacific using the stars. In the new Science Adventure Center, you can control volcanic eruptions, pilot a deep sea rover, and see lava melt. The Bishop Museum also houses the Hawaii Sports Hall of Fame, native gardens, changing cultural exhibits featuring contemporary Native Hawaiian artists, and more. Definitely go to The Bishop Museum on Oahu during your trip on Oahu.
The eighth place I recommend you going on Oahu is The Polynesian Cultural Center. At The Polynesian Cultural Center, immerse yourself in the customs of the real Polynesia as natives demonstrate the arts of dancing with fire, making jewelry from plants, climbing 50 foot trees in bare feet, and more. You can also take a leisurely canoe ride through the Center, learn Tongan spear throwing, do the Haka war dance of New Zealand, swim with hundreds of sharks in an awe inspiring IMAX movie, and visit ancient carvings at the Easter Island exhibit. This is one place you should not miss. You will be able to understand the Polynesian people by participating yourself in some of the things they do. The Polynesian Cultural Center is a learning experience as well as fun!!!
The ninth place I suggest going to during your trip to Oahu is Sea Life Park. At Sea Life Park, Hawaii’s marine life comes alive in a dazzling display that will entertain and delight. Located just fifteen miles from Waikiki on Oahu’s beautiful and scenic Makapuu Point, Sea Life Park is a world class marine attraction perched between the majestic Koolau Mountain Range and breathtaking Makapuu Beach. See dolphins dance, sea lions sing, and penguins perform in this magical place by the sea. Also, they have different packages that allow you to swim and interact with their dolphins. That sounds like fun! Doesn’t it? Stop by The Sea Life Park on Oahu, you will have a unique day.
The Last place I would like to suggest that you go to on Oahu is The Hawaiian Waters Adventure Park. The Hawaiian Waters Adventure Park features an exciting variety of unique water rides, attractions, and amenities for all ages and skill levels in a resort like setting. Da FlowRider, the Park’s $1 million dollar ride, is an interactive water ride that offers the thrill of surfing, skateboarding and snowboarding in a self contained, compact, flexible, and safe environment. The latest attraction, Island Adventure Golf, is an 18 hole high end miniature golf course with nine accessible holes. The course features tropical landscaping, waterways, lava rock formations, a waterfall, large beach area with mock fish and sea turtles, challenging surfboard hazards, and an environment that reflects Hawaii. This is a fun activity for everyone in the family, or, if you are a couple, or, if you are alone. This is fun for everyone. Go to The Hawaiian Waters Adventure Park while on Oahu if you are looking for a variety of things to do in one afternoon that really makes you feel like you are surrounded by the beauty of Hawaii!!!
